New Substances Fees Regulations

The New Substances Fees Regulations, in effect since January 1st, 2003, were made under Section 328 of CEPA 1999 in response to a recommendation, following Environment Canada's 1995 Program Review, to implement a cost recovery scheme for the New Substances Notification Regulations. Environment Canada is responsible for administering the New Substances Fees Regulations.

The Fee's Regulations only apply to the chemicals and polymers portion of the NSNR.

Notifiers are encouraged to consult the guidance material available for assisting notifiers in understanding the New Substances Fees Regulations and in determining the applicable fees for notifying a new substance.
