The Bank of Canada's key policy interest rate. It serves as a signal to major participants in the money market as to what rate the Bank is aiming for in the market for overnight funds.

NOTE: The target for the overnight rate is the midpoint of the Bank's 50-basis-point operating band. For example, when the operating band extends from 2.50 to 3.00 per cent, the target for the overnight rate is set at 2.75. The Bank Rate is the upper limit of this band.

Taux directeur de la Banque du Canada. Il indique aux principaux acteurs du marché monétaire le niveau visé par la Banque pour le taux du financement à un jour.

NOTA Le taux cible du financement à un jour correspond au point médian de la fourchette opérationnelle de 50 points de base de la Banque. Ainsi, lorsque les limites de la fourchette sont fixées à 2,50 et à 3,00 %, le taux du financement à un jour est de 2,75 %. Le taux officiel d'escompte correspond à la limite supérieure de la fourchette.
