  2. Internet Explorer
To Increase the type size in Internet Explorer:
    1. Select View in the menu bar.
    2. Select Increase Font.
    3. Notice that the text size has increased.
    4. To increase the type further, continue selecting Increase Font.

  1. Why is the text on your Web Site so small?
Environment Canada uses a style sheet where we do not prescribe the exact text size. This means that you should be able to increase or decrease the font size to suit your needs. The default text size for Internet browsers is medium. If the font appears small, it means that your text/font setting is not at the browser default setting. To change the font size, read how to make the text size bigger.
  1. Why does Environment Canada use proportional font sizing?
Environment Canada uses proportional font sizing to ensure that all Canadians will be able to access the information according to their needs. It is the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), which creates the Internet coding standards for the Internet, that recommends the use of proportional font sizing as the best way of achieving universal accessibility. The W3C promotes proportional font sizing as a way to put text size control back in the hands of the Web Site visitor.

Environment Canada is trying to find a more elegant solution to text sizing that will leverage the needs of the visitor who wants control over text size, and one who wants to see the presentation as we have envisioned it.

For more information on the W3C, visit http://www.w3c.org
