Contaminated Sites

A technician testing earth Contaminated Sites are locations at which substances occur at concentrations above background levels and pose, an immediate or long-term hazard to human health or the environment; or exceed levels specified in policies and regulations. ETAD is the departmental lead and provides advice, support and coordination on contaminated sites issues. ETAD also serves as co-chair of the interdepartmental Contaminated Sites Management Working Group. In addition, ETAD provides related technical support and undertakes research and development on contaminated site remediation technologies.
