HEALTH HAZARD ALERTMANDATORY RECALL OF VARIOUS WAGENER BEEF PRODUCTS
OTTAWA, August 26, 2003 - The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is warning consumers not to consume the various Wagener beef products described below because these products were manufactured with beef originating from Aylmer Meat Packers Inc., Aylmer, Ontario, that is believed to pose a risk to public health and were subject to a recall order on August 24, 2003. All package sizes of Wagener products listed in the attached table are affected by this alert. Consumers who may have purchased these types of products, in bulk or pre-sliced, at various deli stores and speciality food stores, are encouraged to check at the point of purchase to determine if they have the affected product.
The manufacturer, Wageners Meat Products, Toronto, Ontario is conducting a mandatory recall of the affected products from the marketplace. These products are known to have been distributed in Ontario. There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of the affected products.
