 Agreements

Environmental Performance Agreements are possible where the parties involved share common objectives and each can derive benefits from addressing a particular environmental issue. While features and formats may vary, and their names differ, environmental agreements have become increasingly common.

In June 2001, the federal Minister of the Environment released Environment Canada's Policy Framework for Environmental Performance Agreements. The negotiation and development of environmental performance agreements since this time have been based on the principles and the design criteria outlined in the Policy Framework.
