Pursuant to Section 23 of the Canadian Food Inspection Agency Act, I have the
pleasure of presenting to you the Annual Report for the Agency’s second year of
operation, 1998-99.
This year’s Annual Report provides performance information for the past year of
operation, in the context of the CFIA performance management framework that forms the
basis for annual reporting to Parliament. The Annual Report also includes the 1998-99
audit financial statements and the Auditor General’s opinion thereon. The CFIA Annual
Report describes all of the major services provided by the CFIA to its clients from coast
to coast – services that help protect Canadian consumers and the health of Canadian
animals and plants.
