Medical Services Branch

Mission

To manage the Medical Services Plan of Saskatchewan Health for the purpose of meeting the health needs of provincial residents and support health region boards in the provision of comprehensive health services.

Medical and Health Insurance Coverage

The Saskatchewan Medical Care Insurance Plan covers a wide range of services provided by physicians, chiropractors and optometrists, as well as some services provided by dentists. The plan pays for insured services on a fee-for-service basis, in accordance with medical care insurance payment schedules. These schedules reflect agreements reached with various professional associations. Contract and salary funding arrangements are also developed by mutual agreements and implemented to support stable and appropriate service provision.
