The B.C. Guidelines and Protocols Advisory Committee provides doctors and patients with recommendations for medical care to help ensure that patients receive the best quality health care in a cost-effective way. Guidelines and protocols help doctors identify the tests, treatments or procedures that are most appropriate for common situations. This is important as rapid increases in medical knowledge and technology have dramatically increased the treatment options and alternatives available to doctors and patients.
