The CCASN invites you to submit abstracts for oral and/or poster presentations at the Fifth CCASN Scientific Meeting. The CCASN Scientific Meeting serves as a forum for health and public health professionals, researchers, practitioners and students to present surveillance and research data related specifically to congenital anomalies.
Abstracts submitted should cover topics related to epidemiology, genetics, program planning and evaluation, research, surveillance and prevention of congenital anomalies. As the focus of this conference is on Congenital Anomalies Surveillance and Public Health, abstracts related to this topic are preferred, but all submissions will be considered.
Specific topics could include but are not limited to: socio-demographic factors and congenital anomalies surveillance, access to prenatal screening and diagnosis, disparities impacting congenital anomalies and congenital anomalies surveillance.
The CCASN encourages participation of students, professionals and practitioners from various disciplines interested in congenital anomalies surveillance and prevention.
Posters- The poster session will be held at the Sunday evening reception (November 19, 2006). Posters will remain up for viewing on Monday and Tuesday, November 20 and 21, 2006. Presenters will be asked to be available at their posters during the Sunday reception and following lunch on the Monday.
Oral presentations-
The session for oral presentations will be held on Monday, November 20. Presenters accepted for oral presentations will also be asked to bring a poster of the presentation. Presenters will be informed of the time allotted for their oral presentations on acceptance of their abstracts.

Include the abstract as an attachment (WordPerfect or Microsoft Word).
- Mailed submissions must include a hardcopy plus a diskette (WordPerfect
or Microsoft Word) with the title and presenter(s)' name(s).

Abstract Format
The abstract is limited to 300 words and presented for submission no smaller than 12 point type. The abstract header should include the poster title, author(s), and affiliation(s). Underline the name of the presenting author. Please ensure the structured format includes the Objectives, Methods, Results and Conclusions.
Submitters are asked to indicate the kind of presentation they prefer (oral or poster). Final decisions regarding acceptance of abstracts and presentation format will be made by the Communications/Scientific Meeting Working Group and the Advisory Group of the CCASN.
Authors will receive written notification regarding acceptance of abstracts by September 29, 2006.
Assistance for travel and accommodation will be provided to 2
to 3 students whose abstracts are accepted for oral and/or
poster presentation.
