At the 3rd International Conference on Diabetes and Indigenous Peoples: "Theory, Reality and Hope," Canadian participants decided to create a new organization: the National Aboriginal Diabetes Association (NADA).

NADA's mission is to focus on aboriginal problems and needs regarding diabetes, in a way that respects aboriginal culture, traditions and values, and to create opportunities and options for aboriginal peoples to achieve self-sufficiency and dignity when addressing diabetes, both as individuals and as communities.

For more information about NADA or to order the proceedings of the Conference, contact the following address: National Aboriginal Diabetes Association, Box 26093, 116 Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3C 4K9; Tel/fax: (204) 775-3625.
