Biotechnology (International Activities)

International activities within the biotechnology section of the New Substances Program fall primarily into two areas: the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) as participants in the OECD chemicals Committee and Working Party on Chemicals, Pesticides and Biotechnology.

The New Substances Program (NSP) is actively involved in the Working Group on Regulatory Oversight in Biotechnology which places its emphasis on environmental and regulatory aspects of biotechnology. As well the NS program is part of the working group for Canada on the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety.
