1999-2000 Annual Review, August 2000

Publication Resource Centre

Established in 1991, the Community Program's (CP's) Publication Resource Centre distributes materials developed through contribution agreements.

Included in the Publication Resource Centre Catalogue are 37 videos, 145 publications and 3 posters on the following subjects: Addictions, Child Development, Family Violence, Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, Healthy Babies, Human Immunodeficiency Virus/Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (HIV/AIDS), Mental Health, Nutrition, Solvent Abuse, Head Start resources, Suicide, and Tobacco. The videos, publications and posters are widely distributed to regional offices, communities and Aboriginal organizations.

The CP Directorate's Publication Resource Centre is posted on the Internet and users can now order material directly through the First Nations and Inuit Health Branch (FNIHB) website. Internet access requests come not only from across Canada, but from as far away as Europe and Australia. In 1999/2000, work was carried out on a catalogue of resources, which is updated when new publications are available, or when publications go out of print. A Publication Resource Centre Report was also completed in the fall of 1999, and is now available on the FNIHB/CP website.

2000-2001 Main Activities and Anticipated Outcomes:

  • Conduct a regular review of resources.
  • Publish a new catalogue of resources.
  • Continue the distribution of CP resources to clients across Canada and outside of Canada.
