Softwood Lumber Agreement between the Government of Canada and the Government
of the United States of America - 2006
The Government of Canada worked closely with provinces and industry stakeholders
throughout the softwood lumber dispute to secure a durable agreement with
the United States. On September 12, 2006, Canada and the United States
signed the Softwood Lumber Agreement. Since then, Canada has taken concrete
steps to implement this important bilateral agreement. The Agreement entered
into force on October 12, 2006.
