Teachers!
Help your students explore, create, and learn more about the world of immunization and health by participating in the National Immunization Poster Contest.

Since the first contest was organized in 1996, thousands of Grade 6 students across Canada have showcased their talents by creating posters that illustrate how they view the link between vaccination and health. Germs are the bad guys! Suddenly needles and the vaccines they carry become heroes in fighting disease. The vivid posters created by students are used to help raise awareness about the importance of immunization and provides a unique opportunity for them to be active participants in promoting public health.

Every two years the Public Health Agency of Canada's Immunization and Respiratory Infections Division and the Canadian Coalition for Immunization Awareness and Promotion organize the poster contest to encourage students to learn more about the importance of immunization. Winners are selected from over 2,000 students' submissions. Prizes are awarded to provincial and territorial winners and the first place national winner (along with a parent or guardian) wins a trip to receive their award from the Chief Public Health Officer at a Canadian Immunization Conference.

Support materials provided to teachers include an activity guide and a variety of lesson plans to choose from. Students and teachers alike have found that the contest is a fun and creative way to learn more about the role that immunization has played in fighting disease in Canada and worldwide... and they particularly enjoy showing off their artwork! So come on, “Give us your best shot!”
