Eat Well. Be Active. Have Fun.
You can prevent type 2 diabetes.
Health Canada's diabetes awareness campaign was developed in partnership with the Canadian Diabetes Association, the Québec Diabetes Association and Wal-Mart Canada. The national campaign includes daily television spots throughout the month of November, a fact sheet that will be distributed through Wal-Mart pharmacies across Canada, and information kits with material from all four campaign partners.
Diabetes is a national health problem which cannot be addressed effectively by any single agency or sector of Canadian society. In 1999, the Government of Canada dedicated $115 million over five years to the development of a Canadian Diabetes Strategy (CDS) to address the growing problem of diabetes in Canada. The Strategy is a partnership of provinces and territories, national health organizations and Aboriginal communities. It focuses on prevention, care, education, surveillance and supports the national coordination of these efforts. The Eat Well. Be Active. Have Fun. You can prevent type 2 diabetes campaign is part of the education component of the CDS.
