The Government of Canada's commitment to renew and strengthen public health includes the establishment of a series of National Collaborating Centres (NCC) ( The centres will focus on requirements for (and gaps in) knowledge and research in a variety of public health sectors through partnerships within academia, governments and non-governments and its communities of practice. Additionally, the centres are to work as a network, which supports knowledge demands around public health goals and priorities as these evolve and change to respond to its' current needs. Priorities will be reviewed and assessed on a regular basis through a combination of activities by the National Collaborating Centre Program (
