"Con" arguments

"Pro" arguments

"Taking the pill is impractical and has too many side effects..."

  • There are many other alternatives (i.e.: Depo-provera)
  • Some people suffer few or no side effects at all
"I'm too shy to go to a clinic, I wouldn't want anyone to see me there..."
  • There are many reasons to be visiting a clinic
  • Our partner may always accompany us
  • Protecting oneself is a responsible act
"I just had my period so I can't get pregnant..."
  • This method is not reliable enough; there is still a risk of pregnancy and STIs
"I'll just take a douche right after sex..."
  • This method is not an effective birth control method at all
"It won't happen to me because I don't want children..." (wishful thinking)
  • Impregnation is not a question of will, but a normal phenomenon among all women
  • The best way to avoid an unplanned pregnancy is to properly use birth control
  • You could still get an STI
"This is my first time, so I can't become pregnant..."
  • It is possible to become pregnant following a first sexual relation
  • It is recommended to protect oneself with every sexual relation
"All birth control methods are just so complicated..."
  • Some of them are very simple (i.e.: Depo-provera)
  • An unplanned pregnancy or an STI would be a lot more complicated
"Condoms prevent me from feeling pleasure, I can't feel anything..."
  • There are different kinds of condoms
  • Without a condom there is no sexual relation, and therefore no pleasure
