7.0 Committee Liaison Reports

7.01 CHE Report

An update was given on CHE activities.

Decision/Action:

  • Secretariat to develop CDW Work Plan by April 2005.

7.02 CCME Report

An update was given on the activities and priorities of the Canadian Council of Ministers of the Environment and its task groups.

Decision/Action:

  • Nil

7.03 Provincial-Territorial Subcommittee on Plumbing Codes/Canadian Advisory Committee on Plumbing Report

The report from the PTSPC/CACP meetings was distributed and discussed.

Decision/Action:

  • Nil

7.04 Certification Body Reports

An update was given on the certification bodies' activities. Members asked questions to the representatives at the meeting about referring people to certified products; whether each body must use the same phrase or wording for describing their certification; concerns with informing the public and inspectors; and the type of information the certification bodies can release.
An update was given on NSF International activities related to standards 42, 44, 53, 58, 60, 61 & 62. Questions and concerns were raised about Standards Council of Canada (SCC) and Canadian Association For Environmental Analytical Laboratories parting company and how to reference new arrangements in legislation and regulations.

Decision/Action:

  • Secretariat to ask certification bodies for general information on the number of products that could meet the proposed arsenic guideline
  • Members to ask NSF directly for copies of the standards they need
  • Secretariat to follow-up with SCC for wording for regulations that gives flexibility for laboratory accreditation
