5.0 Old/New Business

5.01 National Drinking Water Conference

The plans for the conference are proceeding though not enough abstracts have been received. The call for papers will be sent out again. The conference will be held April 2-4, 2006, in Saint John, NB. Ed O'Hanian has been confirmed as the keynote speaker.

Decision/Action:

  • Secretariat to send members an email with hotel and registration details

5.02 Drinking Water Databases (1998-04)

Updates were given on the following: the data dictionary which will eventually be incorporated into the national health surveillance databases; BC's Drinking Water Information Management Project; Alberta's drinking water database system, and Manitoba's system.

Decision/Action:

  • For information

5.03 Guidance Documents - InfraGuide (2001-06)

The CDW will not be jointly funding a guide on corrosion control with InfraGuide. The InfraGruide itself is on-going and other guides are being developed. Seminars are available for presentation at workshops and conferences. Members were encouraged to get involved in the Guide if they are interested.

Decision/Action:

  • Quebec to provide its corrosion control manual to members when it is available

  • Item dropped

5.04 ISO Standard

The purpose of the ISO Standard is to establish an internationally accepted method for calculating performance indicators for water and wastewater services, for service provision and service to customers. Documents are being developed and will eventually be published as an ISO standard.

5.05 FPT Food Safety (2004-10)

An update was given on the work of this committee. It is developing a draft document for food processors that explains what should they do in the case of boil water advisories and other adverse water conditions. The draft document will be provided to the CDW when it's time for consultations.

5.06 Fluoride - Litigation and Food Basket

An update was given on the fluoride litigation which has been dismissed, the food basket survey, and the guideline re-evaluation process.
