Notes:

  • Thirteen patients (1.4%) were admitted to hospital, 671 (73.3%) of the patients required medical follow-up treatment.
  • Among those injuries for which time of incident was available, 33% occurred between 8 a.m. and noon and 25% occurred between noon and 4 p.m.
  • Falls accounted for 46% of the injuries. Of the children who fell, more than one-third fell from a height greater than one metre.
  • Of the thirteen children who were admitted to hospital, 6 suffered fractures, 3 obstructed airways, 2 minor head injuries, 1 soft tissue laceration and 1 bite.
  • These daycare injuries represent 2.8% of all CHIRPP injuries to children of the same age in 1997.
