NSAGI - National Studies on Acute Gastrointestinal Illness

Future Activities

Community Etiology

One of the future studies planned for NSAGI is the Community Etiology Study. This project, currently in the study design phase, will investigate the pathogen-specific magnitude, underreporting, and burden of illness for enteric diseases in communities across the country.

National Population Survey

Currently in the planning phase, one next step for the population study is to develop and conduct a national telephone survey aimed at estimating the prevalence of gastrointestinal illness across Canada. This will provide Canada-wide information to supplement the detailed data collected by the population study in selected communities across Canada.
