Step back in time at the Delta Museum and Archives.

Stroll through the turn of the twentieth century inside a restored 1912 Tudor-style heritage building, which once housed Delta's municipal offices, courthouse, and jail. A wealth of fine artifacts, photographs, and authentic detail draws the visitor into the Victorian-Edwardian period rooms of a pioneer home.

Explore the sights and sounds of an early Ladner street scene. Discover the shops and services available to early settlers, featuring a general store, hotel, blacksmith shop, bakery, drugstore, one-room schoolhouse, and more.

Enjoy exhibits highlighting Coast Salish First Nations artifacts, early farming, fishing, and canning industries, duck hunting, and decoys.

Renseignements sur les collections
The Delta Museum and Archives collects objects and archival records which deal with the natural, social, economic, cultural, and political history of the municipality of Delta in British Columbia from Delta's geological origins through the present. Dramatic exhibitions place the collections in historical and cultural contexts.


Archives
The community archives' holdings include photographs, documents, maps, drawings, and oral histories from Delta's historic era. Microfilm reels of late-nineteenth through twentieth century local newspapers is available.

Decorative arts are collected for their historic relevance and to better understand the lifestyles of Delta.

Histoire humaine
Archaeological and mid-nineteenth through twentieth century artifacts cover many aspects of the development of Delta. First Nations culture is represented by prehistoric tools and toolmaking, as well as basketry, blanketmaking, and totem poles. Artifacts representing the homelives, occupations, and pastimes of the variety of people who have moved to Delta since the 1860s are also included, especially Victorian-Edwardian homelife and village business, the histories of fishing, farming, and canneries, and duck hunting decoys.

The Delta Museum and Archives offers curriculum-based, docent-guided and worksheet-guided school programs and special historical projects for school groups. Public programs (lectures, heritage tours, crafts, etc.)are offered for all ages.
