We recommend that you do. You can obtain Change of Address Announcement Cards at your local Post Office to advise your correspondents of your new address. The cards are free, but you must put the appropriate postage on them.
-
Why are the businesses / organization fees higher than residential customers?
The fees for redirecting your mail varies based on volume of mail and the average number of pieces that have to be handled. Businesses, organizations and enterprises usually receive more mail than residential customers, so the fees are higher.
-
What is the difference between a "permanent" and a "temporary" change of address?
A "permanent" move occurs when an individual or a family moves from one residence to another residence or when a business / organization moves from one place of business (location) to another - with no intention of returning to the previous address. When the Permanent Redirection Service expires, mail addressed to the old address is either returned to sender (if there is a return address), otherwise it is disposed of in accordance with Canada post procedures.
A "temporary" redirection of mail request is initiated when the residential customer or business / organization wishes to have mail redirected to an address at which they will be residing / operating on a temporary basis. Residents of Canada wintering outside of the country typically use this service. When the Temporary Redirection Service expires, mail delivery to the old address is resumed.
-
Will my parcels be redirected?
Priority Courier, Xpresspost, Expedited Parcel and Regular Parcel items will be redirected where possible within Canada only. Additional postage will apply.
-
Is Mail Redirection Service available outside of Canada?
Change of Address Service can be used when you are moving to the U.S.A. and to most international destinations. Due to customs requirements, only non-dutiable items can be redirected outside of Canada.
