Electronic Shipping Tools Release Notes - New on January 8, 2007
We encourage you to read the following information along with the revised User Guides before the newest version
is released on January 8, 2007. As in the past, customers have been assigned specific dates on
which to receive the software upgrade. For best results during this time, we recommend you connect with the
Canada Post server early in the day.
Desktop Version
EST Help CentreWe are pleased to introduce our new EST Help Centre! Now all of our Help tools are at your finger tips with the click of just one button.
Look for the EST Help Centre throughout the Canada Post website. Mailing Tube SurchargeEffective January 8, 2007, a flat surcharge fee of $1.00 will be applied to your order when you use a cylindrical container (Mailing Tube) to mail your items. Desktop Version

Technical Support ChangesSupport Ending (Major technical support changes) Support will end for the Eltron 2642 and 2742 printers, Windows 98 and EST custom drivers effective June 2007. These will not support the upgraded bar-coding technology to be implemented in July. To continue to receive full support, we suggest you make the following upgrades as soon as possible, and then re-install the application:
Note: If you have not upgraded, all technical issues encountered after June 25, 2007 will not be supported Mandatory Software UpgradeAs part of our continuing commitment to improve our services we are launching an upgrade to our systems effective April 15, 2007. It is recommended you download before this time to avoid any service disruption. You have the option of downloading in phases by selecting “Continue Later” to stop the download, and continuing the next time you connect.
If you have not completed the download by April 15, 2007 you will not be able to proceed until the download is complete. Note: Customers using dial-up are encouraged to download in phases to alleviate any significant downtime because of the size of the download (15 megs). Manage DatabaseTo help keep your database at a manageable level you now have the option of automatically purging older orders. Two new checkboxes have been added to the Options tab of the Site Information page where you can select frequency of purges or opt to archive orders.
Automatically purge Orders after months : By selecting this and identifying the frequency of the purging (# of months), your orders will be permanently removed and will not be accessible at a later date. Archive Order data before purging : If you prefer to retain your orders you may select this option which removes the data from your database and allows access at a later date. Copy DatabaseEffective Jan. 8, 2007 to avoid duplication and ensure up-to-date information is accessed you will no longer be allowed to use a copied version of the Desktop Electronic Shipping Tools . If you require a back-up or additional desktop version you must re-install the application. If you attempt to use a copied or older version after Jan. 8, 2007 you will receive an error message. Click the Ok button to shut the system down and follow the re-install process to continue. Please Note Additional Connectivity Changes:
Print Screen The Electronic Shipping Tools is detecting a back-up, copied or an older version of your database being used. It is recommended you reinstall to receive the most recent data and avoid duplication between database versions.
