A Postage Meter is a machine used to produce/imprint evidence of postage payment on a mail item.

Customers use postage meters for reasons of convenience, security of funds handling and professional envelope image.

Customers rent or lease postage meters from one of three companies who manufacture meters that are authorized by Canada Post for use in Canada: Francotyp-Postalia Canada Inc., Neopost Canada Ltd. and Pitney Bowes Canada.
