Chief Warrant Officer E. ChristensenBorn in Guelph Ont., Chief Warrant Officer Christensen left Ontario to join the military in April 1975. He completed his recruit training in Cornwallis, N.S., and on completion was posted to 2nd Battalion, The Royal Canadian Regiment (2 RCR), Canadian Forces Base Gagetown, N.B., to attend his Infantry training. He was employed in a variety of jobs from rifleman, reconnaissance patrolman and section commander. He was promoted to Master Corporal in 1980 and posted to the Infantry School in 1982 as a section commander.

Chief Warrant Officer Christensen was promoted to Sergeant in 1983 and posted back to 2 RCR. Promoted to Warrant Officer in 1988, he was employed as a rifle platoon Warrant Officer, Signals Warrant Officer, Anti-Armour Platoon Warrant Officer, Company Quartermaster for Hotel Company and Administrative Company. He was promoted to Master Warrant Officer in 1992, after which he was employed as the Company Sergeant Major for Hotel Company and Combat Support Company.

Chief Warrant Officer Christensen was posted to the year-long French Course in Valcartier Que., and on completion, was posted to 3 RCR as the Drill Sergeant-Major. He was promoted to his present rank in 1998 and posted to the Ceremonial Guard in Ottawa. He was the Regimental Sergeant Major of the unit and was responsible for unit training, drill and the daily mounting of the guard on Parliament Hill. Chief Warrant Officer Christensen was appointed as the Regimental Sergeant Major of 2 RCR in 2000 and served in that capacity for three years. He was posted to 3 Area Support Group in Gagetown in 2003. Chief Warrant Officer Christensen was appointed as the Land Force Atlantic Area Chief Warrant Officer in September 2003. He has served on UN tours in the Golan Heights, two tours in Cyprus, one in Yugoslavia, and a tour in Eritrea.
