Each year, the Ombudsman presents two types of Commendations to recognize individuals who bring pride to the National Defence and Canadian Forces community through exemplary dedication and service.

These awards, however, do not only recognize those currently serving in the military; they are to recognize any individual or group who contributes to the goals of the Office of the Ombudsman.
