The National to broadcast live from 8 Wing Trenton tonight.

CBC Television's "The National" will broadcast live from 10 Hangar at 8 Wing Trenton on Tuesday, December 12 as part of a three-part live series called "On the Home Front."

According to the 8 Wing Trenton Public Affairs Officer, Captain Nicole Meszaros, 8 Wing Trenton was chosen because of its high operational tempo, especially as it is the staging base for Canadian Forces operations in Afghanistan.

In an ad published in The Belleville Intelligencer, CBC TV promotes the broadcast by saying, "From the Mighty Hercules Airlift to the holiday rush in the mail room, Peter Mansbridge anchors a special edition of CBC News: The National with stories from the troops and military families here at home."

The broadcast begins at 10 p.m. on CBC Television (10:30 NT) and 9 p.m. on CBC Newsworld (9:30 NT).

The series begins tonight with a live broadcast from Canadian Forces Base Edmonton with the third segment airing from Canadian Forces Petawawa on Wednesday, December 13.
