Director General Forces Development Analysis (DGFDA)

Role. DGFDA drives the force development process through the analysis of the Future Security Environment and the development of a CF scenario set, and shapes capability development through the development of strategic concepts and doctrine. In this way DGFDA contributes to CBP, which is ultimately scenario driven and concept led.

Outputs. CF Strategic Operating Concept and doctrine, along with the CF scenario set.

Director Future Security Analysis (DFSA)

Role. Conduct analysis of the FSE aimed at Horizon 2-3, including preliminary defence and security implications for the Department.

Functions. Functions to be performed include:

• Conduct regional security trends analysis,
• Conduct future military trends & potential operations analysis,
• Conduct future military technology trends analysis; and
• Develop and manage DND FD scenario set.
• Attend the inter-departmental Environmental Scanning Practice Group (ESPG)
• Attend the departmental Technology Outlook Working Group

Outputs. Future Security Environment awareness and the CF Scenario Set.

Director Strategic Concepts and Doctrine (DSCD)

Role. To explore and develop strategic level concepts and doctrine.

Functions. Functions to be performed include:

• Research and development of Emerging Strategic Operating Concepts,
• Conduct CF Strategic Doctrine Oversight; and
• Conduct CF Experimentation Oversight through coordination with the Canadian Forces Experimentation Center and those of each of the ECS. This oversight is designed to ensure that all CF experimentation remains relevant to and coordinated with the CFD force development activities and priorities.

Outputs. CF Strategic Operating Concept.
