Management Principles

Guided by a responsibility to care for our People, and our duty to serve,and be accountable to the government and people of Canada, DND/CF has adopted the following six principles to support the DP&M:

  1. Defence Policy Statement will provide overall guidance to planning activities.
  2. The DND/CF will incorporate central agency direction and initiative within all planning and management activities in accordance with expectations.
  3. Capability based planning will be guiding engine for DND/CF improvement activities and the selection of priorities
  4. Operational lessons learned will contribute to investment decisions.
  5. Business Planning will allocate resources for current and future oriented activities
  6. Performance Management will assist senior leadership in monitoring progress and adjusting course.
