Directorate of Reserves
The Directorate of Reserves (D Res) is responsible to the Chief of Reserves and Cadets (C Res and Cdts) through the Director General Reserves and Cadets (DGRC) to gather and analyse information on Primary Reserve matters and Canadian Rangers in order to enable C Res and Cdts to serve as an effective advisor to the CDS. D Res is also responsible to DGRC for advising on the development and implementation of reserve policy and provides assistance to commands, NDHQ' divisions and directorates on matters affecting the reserve component of the CF.
The objective of OP ATHENA, Canada's contribution to the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF), is to take part in the United Nations (UN)-authorized mission in Kabul, Afghanistan, for a period of 12 months starting in August 2003.
