Compliance Awareness Course
Course Description A one day course designed to meet the legal obligation of the department to comply with Article 125.(1) z of the Canada Labour Code, Part II with respect to ensuring that supervisors and managers are informed of their occupational health and safety responsibilities. The course familiarizes participants with the concept of due diligence, stakeholder occupational health and safety responsibilities, directives and regulatory requirement and the requirement for an accountability framework. The course is given locally by General Safety Officers and in the future will be available by CBT.

Course Description A three-day seminar that deals with management techniques involved in controlling losses related to occupational illness and accidents that impact negatively on the operational effectiveness and efficiency of the CF and DND. This seminar is particularly valuable to senior military and civilian managers.

Return to Work Awareness Course (RTWAC)
Course Description The RTWAC is a one-day course that is normally scheduled during the same week as a SMC, PEC, SLC, and LCM in order to take advantage of the instructor's presence at the defence establishment to reduce travel costs.  The RTWAC graduates supervisors of civilian employees who are capable of facilitating the early and safe return to work of injured or ill employees withing the framework of the National Return to work Program.  The course covers Return to work topics such as: history, concepts, supervisor duties, and DND Program, Process and Procedure.

Return to Work Employee Awareness Course (RTWEAC)
Course Description The RTWEAC is a half-day course that is scheduled and delivered by GSOs and targets all civilian employees of the department. Commanders, managers and supervisors require empowered civilian employees capable of participating in their early and safe return to work after becoming injured or ill within the framework of the National Return to Work Program. This course assists GSOs, Supervisors, Return to Work and Health and Safety Committee members to implement the departmental RTW Program in their section and covers Return to work topics such as: history, concepts, DND and Local RTW Program, Adapting to Employee Restrictions, Process and Procedure, Duties and Program Administration.

Hazardous Occurrence Investigators Course (HOIC)
Course Description The HOIC is designed to qualify selected personnel to conduct a formal Hazardous Occurrence Investigation. Candidates must be appointed by their commanders as a member of the Base/Wing/ASU or Unit hazardous occurrence investigation team.
