Commodore James Sylvester

In recognition of exemplary dedication to the values of integrity, honesty, fairness and openness,

Commodore
James Sylvester

is awarded the Commendation for Ethics of the Ombudsman for National Defence and Canadian Forces.

Recognizing the importance of ethics, Cmdre Sylvester successfully integrates them into the workplace. He bases his decisions on ethical grounds and encourages staff and peers to do the same.

A strong supporter of the Defence Ethics Programme, Cmdre Sylvester enthusiastically puts significant effort into Ethics Week activities. He has spearheaded valuable discussion sessions on moral dilemmas, which encourage the use of ethics to resolve difficult situations in the workplace.

Cmdre Sylvester strongly believes that in order to reach a higher standard of ethics, the organization itself has an obligation to treat its members and employees as it expects them to treat others. In his interactions with his staff, he has demonstrated that he not only advocates this belief, but also acts on it. He routinely goes beyond what is required in order to do what is fair.

The Ombudsman for the Department of National Defence and the Canadian Forces salutes and commends Cmdre Sylvester's exceptional dedication.

James Sylvester
