Mr. Clément Laforce
In recognition of exceptional skill in resolving complaints, thereby
contributing to the well-being of the DND/CF community, Clément Laforce is
awarded the Commendation for Complaint Resolution of the Ombudsman for the
Department of National Defence and the Canadian Forces.
Clément Laforce exemplifies in every way the spirit of this commendation. His
research on the chemical warfare agent testing at Suffield during WWII was
instrumental not only in assisting the Ombudsman’s investigation, but also in
helping many veterans and their families deal with the effects of this sorry
period in our history.
His cooperative attitude and willingness to provide information were outstanding
and stood in stark contrast to the denial, defensiveness and dismissiveness that
had coloured many attempts to investigate the aforementioned case.
Mr. Laforce’s thoughtfulness, dedication, sensitivity, efficiency and
wonderful sense of humour make him a pleasure to work with. As well, his caring
attitude, his careful research and the level of service he and his staff provide
to those who contact him at Defence Research & Development Canada, is a
testament to their dedication to helping all members of the defence community.
Without his contribution, the Chemical Agent Testing investigation and the
compensation program that subsequently was created would not have been possible.
The Ombudsman for the Department of National Defence and the Canadian Forces
salutes and commends Clément Laforce’s exceptional dedication.
