Mr. Pierre Lessard

In recognition of exemplary dedication to the values of integrity, honesty, fairness and openness, Pierre Lessard is awarded the Commendation for Ethics of the Ombudsman for National Defence and Canadian Forces.

Throughout his career as a defence scientist, Pierre Lessard has made an outstanding contribution to improving not only the Department of National Defence, but also the well-being of the defence community. Possessing an exemplary sense of ethics, he takes his time to reflect before offering sound and well thought-out advice.

Mr. Lessard combines a keen sense of observation with an outstanding capacity for reflection; as a result, he has the ability to take stock of a given situation and understand all of its ramifications. He then uses this information to enlighten and advise the decision-makers to the best of his judgement. These exceptional qualities have earned him recognition as an excellent “sounding board”.

True to his values, Pierre Lessard applies sound management principles based on integrity, justice and fairness. He is a man of remarkable integrity; his proven honesty and sincerity have exerted a positive influence on those around him. By giving direction and vision to Defence Research and Development Canada, he has left a lasting mark on the organization.
