Masada

Situation: Jewish Revolt AD 66-70 - Three year Roman siege of Jewish Zealots in the winter palace of Herod the Great on Mount Masada, Ad 70 - 73. In this film, strong leadership traits by both the commander of the Roman siege army and that of Masada's defenders are showcased. The innovation and tenacity of each commander is clearly evident under adversity. Leadership challenges over a long combat duration exists for both the besiegers and the defenders. It is a circumstance of endurance by a disciplined, well trained, organized, and equipped attacking force against a determined non-military defender, encumbered with many non-combatants. In the end, the final leadership decision taken to deny victory to the Romans offers an interesting perspective.
