Wings and Wheels Niagara

August 30, 2006

by Lieutenant (Navy) Petra Smith

Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario - August 26 and 27

The Canadian Forces Snowbirds were delighted to participate in Wings and Wheels Niagara August 26 and 27.

While the weather conditions were not ideal, spectators' enthusiasm remained high as they cheered the team on while they performed their low and flat shows.

The Snowbirds have some flexibility regarding weather conditions. With a 4,500-foot ceiling and 5 nautical miles of visibility, the team may perform the high show, complete with rolls, loops, solo crosses and burst formations. With a 1,500-foot ceiling and 5 nautical miles of visibility, the team may perform the low show, which includes high-speed crosses, burst formations and beautiful 9-plane formations. With a 1,000-foot ceiling, the team may perform the flat show, which is a 15-minute show that includes beautiful 9-plane formations.

The Snowbirds were delighted with the warm reception they received upon arriving at the Niagara District Airport and as they met members of the community after the shows.

The Snowbirds would like to thank Martina Chapman for the phenomenal hospitality, warm welcome and dedicated support.
