Home Canada Remembers Features Veterans' Week 2006 - Share the Story

Each year, Canada marks Veterans' Week from November 5 to 11. Veterans' Week is a time to honour and remember all those who served Canada in times of war, military conflict and peace. It is also a time to teach our youth about remembrance. Throughout the week, commemorative events and activities will be held in communities all across Canada.

The theme for Veterans' Week 2006 is Share the Story, highlighting, among many stories, the 50th Anniversary of the First United Nations Peacekeeping Force. We invite Canadians to share personal stories of remembrance as a way to develop a deeper understanding of the sacrifices and achievements of those who served Canada. These stories can be told by Veterans, relatives, CF members, youth; anyone who has a story to tell.

When we Share the Story, we become a part of a legacy of remembrance – a chain of events that will link our past with our future, and preserve the memories of our heroes.
