2006

  • Vancouver 2010 Organizing Committee attends Torino Winter Games and delivers a cultural presentation at the Closing Ceremonies.
  • 2006-2010: Four-year Vancouver 2010 Cultural Olympiad begins.
  • Royal Canadian Mint unveils the 2006 sterling silver "Lucky Loonie" to celebrate Canada's Olympic and Paralympic athletes and to wish them the best of luck at the Torino Winter Games.
  • Construction begins at the Vancouver Olympic Village.
  • July 10 to 15: Key members of the Torino Organizing Committee travel to Vancouver for a comprehensive debrief of the 2006 Winter Games with the Vancouver Organizing Committee and the International Olympic Committee.
  • Fall: Unveiling of the official Paralympic Emblem for the 2010 Winter Games.

2007

  • Construction begins at the Whistler Olympic and Paralympic Village.
  • Selection of the 2010 Winter Games Mascot.
  • February 24 to March 10: Canada Winter Games in Whitehorse, Yukon.

2007 - 2008

  • Athletes begin to train at the 2010 Winter Games venues.

2008

  • August 8-24: Beijing 2008 Olympic Summer Games.
  • September 5-16: Beijing 2008 Paralympic Summer Games.
  • Call for volunteers for the 2010 Winter Games.
  • Ticket sales for the 2010 Winter Games begins.

2009

  • The torch relay begins 114 days prior to the 2010 Winter Games Opening Ceremonies. The relay will originate in Olympia, Greece.

2010

  • January 15: Olympic Arts Festival begins.
  • February 12-28: Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver and Whistler.
  • March 12-21: Paralympic Winter Games in Whistler and Vancouver.
