Government of Canada's RoleThe Government of Canada is proud to be a major partner of the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. "These Games began as a partnership venture. Their ultimate success will depend on all of us working together."
Minister Emerson, June 20, 2006.
Due to the significance and scale of these Games, a high degree of planning and coordination across government and other organizations is required. That is why organizers have been actively planning and preparing since Vancouver and Whistler were awarded the Games on July 2, 2003. Eights months prior to this date, a Multi-Party Agreement was signed by all parties involved in the 2010 Winter Games. This document, which outlines the parties' roles and responsibilities, was the first of its kind to be signed prior to a host city being announced – truly recognizing the partners' commitment to the Games.
