An ambitious plan to develop the BC Museum of Mining into one of BC’s top 5 destinations has recently received a large capital grant from government and industry sponsors. The Britannia Project will evolve over several stages to showcase Canada’s rich mining heritage and commitment to research, sustainability and earth regeneration. The Project will include a Visitors’ Centre (stage 1 to open before 2010), a Mining Interpretive Centre, Earth Gardens, a Research, Innovation and Sustainability Centre and outdoor adventures in the back country. The Britannia Beach Historical Society (BBHS), which owns the land and the Museum, has formed the Britannia Development Corporation (BDC) as its main subsidiary to carry out the Project.

The Role
The BBHS and the BDC are seeking their first President, who will be responsible for delivering the vision of the Britannia Project. The President will maintain and develop relationships with all levels of government, investors, Vancouver 2010, Legacies Now and other communities of interest. Reporting to the Board of Directors, you will manage all processes relating to the timely finalization of the Project, including project oversight of the construction process and development of communication strategies, branding and marketing of new and existing facilities. The President builds strong and effective liaisons to influence and enhance partnerships and fundraising with appropriate cultural, business, community and government partners. You will also be responsible for the BC Museum of Mining through its Executive Director.

The Candidate
You have a strong passion for executing a vision that celebrates history, regeneration and sustainability. You have superior communication skills and are comfortable dealing with government, business and community leaders. Your ability to prioritize issues and stakeholders is excellent, and you are an engaging public speaker. You have well developed planning, organizational, project management and financial skills. Fundraising or attraction/destination experience is an asset.
