The Legal Archives Society of Alberta (LASA) is dedicated to preserving, interpreting and promoting Alberta’s legal history. In pursuit of this mission, the Society operates seven heritage programs: archives, exhibits and interpretation, research services, legal history library, historical publications, records and archives consulting, and oral history. LASA is a non-profit, charitable organization supported by donations and a grant from the Law Society of Alberta.

Job Description:
The Society requires the services of a permanent part-time Administration and Development Officer. In this position the successful candidate will perform a wide variety of administrative functions. You will responsible for preparing correspondence, assisting with the pulling and filing of documents and files, maintenance of office information systems, initial registration of incoming material, basic accounting, and meeting organization. The candidate will also work closely with the Executive Director in fundraising development, event planning, historical and investigative research, managing the oral history program and LASA’s small library.

Qualifications:
The successful applicant will possess a university degree and/or office related experience. The applicant must be skilled in the use of current word processing, desktop publishing, and database management systems. The applicant must possess superior organization, writing, and research skills and must be able to work effectively with the public. Experience and an interest in history, archives, libraries and/or the law are definite assets.

Location: Calgary

Starting Date: January 15, 2007

Salary: $17.50/hour, 25 hours/week
