E-Commerce

E-commerce is the process of buying and selling through electronic communication; these transactions, such as credit purchase, are carried out on the Internet. Incorporating e-commerce into web sites could provide museums and other heritage institutions with the capability to generate additional revenue, donations, and memberships. However, incorporation of e-commerce requires the technical capability to supply a secure Web site for transactions. Although e-commerce has its benefits it can be costly; there may be monthly processing fees, bank fees and reserve fees associated with each sale.

The following resources provide information about services, tools, and resources for developing and managing an Internet business.
