The Virtual Museum of Canada (VMC) is a partnership between the Department of Canadian Heritage and more than 1300 museums across the country that harnesses the power of the Internet to bring Canada's rich and diverse heritage into homes, schools and places of work in both French and English.
Visitors to the VMC can explore virtual exhibits and interactive games for audiences of all ages, together with a gallery containing over 400 000 images of Canadian museum collections. Audiences can also create their own personal museums, go shopping, plan visits to more than 2500 museums across the country, find out about museum events and connect with museum Websites. In addition, teachers will find useful tools to identify online learning materials created by heritage institutions, as well as educational activities being offered by local museums.
