The Canadian Heritage Portfolio, which includes the Department of Canadian Heritage and our major national cultural institutions, plays a vital role in the cultural and civic life of Canadians. We work together to promote culture, the arts, heritage, official languages, citizenship and participation, multiculturalism, Aboriginal, youth, and sport initiatives.
To guide Canadian Heritage in delivering on this mandate, the Department has a strategic framework with two interrelated outcomes (shown above). To achieve results for Canadians, our numerous activities align with these outcomes to form a Program Activity Architecture (PAA).
The 2005-2006 Strategic Framework and Program Activity Architecture
The Program Activity Architecture provides the structure by which the Department reports to Parliament. For details of the objectives and outcomes achieved through key program activities, see the department's annual reports to Parliament: the Report on Plans and Priorities and the Departmental Performance Report.
