Resource Management in the Park

The Management Plan for Kejimkujik, approved in 1995, guides the protection, use and development of the Park, both the inland portion and the Seaside Adjunct, over the next 15 years.

Kejimkujik applies a land-use zoning system to help protect park resources. The zoning classification categorizes all Park lands into one of four possible zones. These zones identify special features, locations for rare flora and other resources.

Thirty-one Zone I, Special Preservation Areas cover 4.1 percent of the Park. Zone II, Wilderness Areas, comprise 77 percent of Kejimkujik. Zone III, Natural Environment Areas, cover 17.4 percent of the Park. Zone IV, General Outdoor Recreation Areas, cover 1.8 percent of Kejimkujik.
