What is Biotics Web Explorer?

The Biotics Web Explorer is a tool that provides access to information about species and Parks Canada managed areas (National Parks, National Historic Sites, National Marine Conservation Areas). This includes information on what species are found in Parks Canada managed areas as well as Species at Risk that Parks Canada is working to help protect and recover.

Who uses the Biotics Web Explorer?

  • scientists, ecologists, researchers
  • students, teachers
  • anyone who is interested in species information within Canada’s protected heritage areas

How can I use the Biotics Web Explorer?

There are two ways to use the Biotics Web Explorer:

There is a “Biodiversity Search” tool that enables the user to create a custom report using a number of available fields for information on species, national parks, national historic sites or national marine conservation areas.

There are also standard searches that have been prepared for you and updated daily. “Biodiversity Reports” provide the current data for popular searches in an easily accessible format.
