Description	The paper describes the goals and preliminary work of Project Math-Muse. The project is made up of an interdisciplinary team of university and state school educators in the US working with children's museums to design and evaluate small, interactive mathematics exhibits for young children. Observations are made on the interaction of adults and children with two exhibit prototypes developed at a local children's museum. Issues arising in the work so far are discussed together with directions for further work.
