Requirements and Options for the Digitization of the Illustration Collections of the National Museum of Natural History |
From the Web site: "The following report, sponsored by the National Museum of Natural History's Collections and Research Information System (CRIS) Development Program, is the result of a study to understand the requirements and alternatives for digital conversion of scientific illustration collections of the Museum. The analysis was undertaken by Mitretek Systems, McLean, Virginia. Specific digitization procedures, methods, and standards are being examined by the Museum within the framework of pilot projects to test the initial recommendations contained in this report. References to vendors and their products does not imply endorsement by the Smithsonian Institution." |
